A monitor connects a sensitive large area with corners, connections and often a removable base. When packaging, these parts must be protected differently. The complete manufacturer packaging with its appropriate inserts is a useful starting point if it is undamaged. On the other hand, an empty product carton without an inner pad is not automatically sufficient as a suitable packaging for transport.
Prepare equipment and accessories before packing
Turn off the device and disconnect cables according to the manufacturer’s instructions. If the base can be removed for transport, remove it only after the required steps. Store screws and small accessories in your own packaging. A bag with such parts may not press directly against the display surface later.
Check the condition of the monitor and prepare a clean, sufficiently large work surface. Access the device in the appropriate places; do not press the display. For packaging planning, you also measure the depth and take prominent areas into account. The screen diagonal alone is not a sufficient measure for a suitable shipping box.
Protect the display surface without point pressure
A suitable, clean surface layer can prevent direct contact between display and further packaging. In addition, the monitor needs a coordinated protection construction, especially at the corners and at the frame. Rigid parts must not be lying loosely on the display. Film alone does not reliably distribute strong pressure and does not replace sufficiently stable inner packaging.
Use existing custom mold inserts or a suitable alternative solution. The device must remain fixed without the cushions tightening it. Cable, power supply and stand are kept separate so that they do not hit the monitor. Labelling as fragile is only a hint and not a substitute for these protective measures.
Select outer carton and check the finished package
The outer carton must match the size and weight of the fully protected device. There is room for additional protection between the inner packaging and the outer walls. Close cavities without compressing the construction. Control whether parts move by carefully moving. The bottom and the lid must be securely closed and not under tension.
Measure and weigh the finished package and check the acceptance conditions of the intended transport service. Large or heavy monitors can have special requirements. Remove old labels and attach the new marking on a flat outer surface. A suitable packaging reduces transport risks, but does not guarantee undamaged arrival or later functionality.
