A bouquet of flowers should look good when handed over and be burdened as little as possible on the way there. Paper, a matching wrapping and a stable shelf can help with this. For a short transport in hand, however, different requirements apply than for a longer shipment.
Customize the packaging to the bouquet
First, determine whether the flowers are to be delivered decoratively or transported protected. An open paper cover shows the flowers and gives the bouquet a clear shape. However, it only protects against pressure, heat or shock. A large ostrich also needs a different support than individual stems.
Choose a sufficiently large sheet of paper. Packaging paper looks simple and can be folded well; decorative paper uses color or pattern. For a quiet design, a single paper colour with a suitable ribbon is often enough. Too many tightly wound layers can cover the flowers and unnecessarily squeeze the ostrich.
Fold a paper cover without printing on the flowers
Place the ostrich diagonally on the bow and loosely guide the sides of the paper around it. The flowers should keep room upstairs. Attach the wrapping in the lower area of the ostrich instead of placing a solid knot directly on the flowers. For sensitive flowers, it is worthwhile to check the result again from all sides before the final binding.
A tape holds the paper cover together and facilitates a neat presentation. Just put it on so far that the shell doesn’t slip. Paper rolls or other improvised holders are not a universal solution for every stalk: a narrow or rough edge can damage the plant.
Separate moisture from the outer packaging
If the ends of the stalks are to be kept moist during the short transport, adjust the method to the flower type. A slightly moistened insert at the ends should be so wrapped that water does not run into the paper cover or a carton. The flowers themselves should not be wrapped in randomly wet. A florist can provide specific guidance for the appropriate supply.
Use a suitable insert for a gift box and secure the bouquet against tipping. A decorative vessel must stand in such a way that it does not squeeze the stems and flowers. A beautiful box alone does not take over air conditioning and does not automatically extend the durability.
Prepare transport and handover
Stablely place or lay off the packed ostrich and protect it from direct sun and heavy objects. In addition, the acceptance conditions, the expected duration of transport and an appropriate flower packaging must be clarified for a parcel shipment. The decorative paper cover is only part of the preparation. When handing over, the shell can be carefully removed so that the ostrich can then be supplied according to the care instructions.
