Air cushion foil protects sensitive items during shipping, moving and storage. The enclosed air bubbles absorb light impacts and keep surfaces separate. The economic role depends on the product, the required quantity and the entire packaging structure.
What distinguishes the different films?
Pay attention to roll width, roll length, foil thickness and bubble size. Small bubbles can be laid well around smaller objects. Larger bubbles can create additional distance for voluminous goods. A higher material thickness can increase the resistance, but does not replace a suitable carton and fixation of the contents.
Designations such as B1, B2 or B3 are used in trade for different designs. Compare the actual product data instead of relying solely on the abbreviation. For sensitive electronic components, ordinary film is also not a proven protection against electrostatic discharge.
Where to buy bubble wrap?
Packaging retailers often offer several widths, lengths and qualities. For small, short-term quantities, local shops with shipping or relocation needs may also be eligible. The availability on site is different; ask for the specific format before a trip. An online comparison makes it easier to select multiple rolls and matching boxes at the same time.
Consider delivery time, shipping costs and the storage space for voluminous rolls. A low unit price is little helpful if the roll is too narrow for your goods or a large part of each cut remains.
Compare prices usefully
One 50-Meter roll is not automatically cheaper than a 100-Meter role. First, calculate the area: width in meters × length in meters. A role with 0,40 m Width and 50 m Length includes, for example: 20 m². Share the roll price through this area to get a price per square meter. Then compare only foils of similar quality.
- Check whether an displayed price is gross or net.
- Consider quantity discounts and shipping costs.
- Plan blending and actually needed layers.
- Compare the protection per packaged product, not only the length of a roll.
Historical prices from the original Polish article are not converted here into supposedly current Euro prices. The current prices and packaging units are available in the product offerings.
Choose suitable size and alternative
Narrow rolls are handy for small goods, wide rolls for larger surfaces. Wrap sensitive pieces separately and fill remaining cavities so that nothing moves against each other. Check additional edge protection for sharp edges. Air cushion film is not a waterproof transport box and no guaranteed temperature insulation.
Embossed upholstered paper, honeycomb paper and suitable paper fillers can be alternatives depending on the product. The decisive factor is whether they achieve the same necessary protection with reasonable material consumption. Undamaged foil can often be reused. In the case of subsequent disposal, the local rules for plastic packaging apply.
