Close gift bags neatly and easily

A gift bag is quickly filled, but only looks complete with a suitable finish. The closure should cover the contents and at the same time allow convenient opening. Whether you fold the edge, use silk paper or use a ribbon depends on the bag and the gift. The handles of a bag are not also intended for closing with every model.

Preparing content and top margin

Place the empty bag on a flat surface and check the floor and handles. Put the gift in carefully. It should not push the sides apart strongly and leave enough space under the upper edge. In the case of a heavy object, the declared load capacity is decisive. Decorative paper improves the presentation, but does not increase the resilience of the bag.

Loose silk paper is suitable for covering the contents. Let it rise evenly beyond the edge and avoid excessive stoppering. Small accessories can lie in an additional inner packaging so that they do not disappear under the paper. Fragile gifts require appropriate protective packaging; a gift bag alone keeps impacts and pressure only limited.

Choose folds, ribbon or paper tab

In case of a bag without disturbing handles, the upper edge can be turned back two or three times. Gently wipe the fold and attach it with a small paper strip or a matching closure. A bag with reinforced edge and cord should only be folded if this allows its construction. Do not fold over fixing points of the handles.

A tape can connect two intended holes to each other or be placed around a suitable bag. Just put it on so tightly that the edge closes. Due to strong tearing, paper and eyelets can be damaged. In the case of cord handles, check whether an existing locking mechanism can be used; do not change knots if this loosens the handle.

Thinking about opening and wearing

The receiver should be able to see where the bag can be opened. A small ribbon with loop is often easier to loosen than a large-scale bonding. Adhesive strips should preferably not sit directly on printed surfaces, which should be retained during reuse. A gift pendant can mark at the same time at which point the closure is released.

Gently lift the finished bag and watch the ground and grip fastenings. In case of uncertainty, you carry it from below. For a shipment, a gift bag is not a sufficient outer packaging: the bag and its contents must be fixed in a suitable shipping packaging. On the other hand, a simple, easily accessible conclusion is often enough when personally handed over.
