The best packaging results from the task. A heavy machine, a sweater and an invitation need different protective functions. Therefore, compare materials based on stability, upholstery effect, moisture protection and processing.
Corrugated board and board
Corrugated board offers a stable outer shell and can be processed in many sizes and designs. Supplied flat, it requires little space. Punching boxes can simplify the packing process, while classic folding cartons are suitable for many different contents. The stability depends on material quality, design and condition.
Moisture can weaken ordinary cardboard. In addition, an outer carton alone does not adequately protect a movable or fragile content. Upholstery, distance and closure are part of the complete structure.
Paper as envelope and filler
Packaging paper can separate surfaces and fill smaller cavities as a suitable cut. Special paper pads have different properties than decorative silk paper. Processing is also important for an even protective effect: loosely inserted thin paper does not hold a heavy product securely in its place.
Films and flexible bags
Films are light and can protect surfaces from dirt or moisture. Stretch foil holds suitable units together. Air cushion foil can absorb light shocks. A simple foil bag, on the other hand, does not offer rigid buckling or pressure protection. Special tasks such as food contact or ESDProtection requires suitable products.
Carrying bags and bags
Paper, plastic and textile bags can be convenient for handover, presentation or storage. For parcel shipping, it is also necessary to check whether the cover, closure and content withstand the transport conditions. A decorative gift bag is not an automatic shipping package.
| Task | Important property |
|---|---|
| Rigid outer packaging | Shape stability and suitable load capacity. |
| Sensitive surface | Tolerable separation layer without scratches or staining. |
| Close cavity | Suitable fixation and padding. |
| Preventing moisture | Suitable barrier and complete closure. |
| Presenting Gift | Optics, clean processing and easy removal. |
Total cost instead of unit price
Consider the quantity of material, packing time, storage space, shipping weight and possible damage. A matching box with less filler can be more economical than a larger, initially cheaper box. Test a complete pattern structure with regular shipping.
Differentiating Environmental Statements
Recycling content, reusability and biodegradability are different properties. No material is the best environmental solution in every situation because of its name alone. Choose a protective structure with comprehensible material specifications and as easy as possible separation. Undamaged materials can be reused depending on the task; later local disposal rules apply.
